From January 17 to 19, 2025, the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C. hosted the 93rd Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM). This year’s event was particularly noteworthy as President Joe Biden delivered his final address to the nation’s mayors, reflecting on the accomplishments achieved through pivotal federal investments such as the American Rescue Plan, the Inflation Reduction Act, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the CHIPs and Science Act.
A Milestone Address

President Biden’s speech underscored the importance of strong, collaborative relationships between the federal government and local leaders. Over 260 bipartisan mayors convened to tackle urgent city-focused topics, including affordable housing, public safety, immigration, and infrastructure investments—issues that directly impact the well-being of millions of Americans.
Kido had the privilege of accompanying one of its clients, a participant in the Mayors Business Council—the premier platform through which organizations can connect with and share expertise with America’s cities. Our team provided marketing, public relations, and professional presentation support to ensure our client made a lasting impression among key stakeholders. This partnership exemplifies how strategic collaboration can boost visibility and credibility for organizations committed to positive change in urban communities.
About the U.S. Conference of Mayors
The USCM is the official nonpartisan organization representing cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Founded in 1932 at the height of the Great Depression, the organization has been a crucial platform for mayors to come together, exchange ideas, and work closely with Congress and the White House on policies that serve city interests. From championing civil rights in the 1960s to pushing for significant pandemic relief in 2021, the Conference has consistently led on the most pressing issues facing American cities.
A Nonpartisan Forum for Progress
One of the most remarkable aspects of the USCM is its bipartisan collaboration. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents stand shoulder to shoulder, united by a shared mission to solve problems, improve quality of life, and drive innovation in local governance. The Mayors Business Council—where Kido’s client participates—provides a direct link between private-sector expertise and municipal leadership, fostering innovative ideas and partnerships.
Why It Matters
Membership in the USCM offers unique opportunities for networking, policy advocacy, and knowledge sharing. Through the Conference, mayors gain access to:
- Advocacy: A powerful collective voice that engages directly with the White House, administration officials, and Congress.
- Best Practices: Resources, reports, and award programs that highlight innovative solutions across U.S. cities.
- Collaborative Networking: A chance to form impactful alliances with other mayors and leading businesses in America.
For businesses and organizations, involvement means having a front-row seat to municipal priorities and forging meaningful relationships that can influence local and national policies.
